March 2010

Maybe this is the start of bigger things.

This meeting will introduce the idea of web-casting the meeting using Dimdim. With the coming loss of this office space, future meetings will need a new home. It could be that the new place will be the web. Jim and I have just run a quick test and it looked pretty good.

Topic of the meeting though will be building Windows services with Clarion and self-serve.

Be here at 6:30, Thursday Mar 18. Don’t wear green.
$10 gets you a fabulous dinner and beer or soda or whatever is in the fridge.

October 2009

Here it is already October! … and already the 3rd Thursday is upon us. Now that’s scary.

I’m going to ask for more day-to-0day examples of SQL in action and some more pitfalls of moving existing applications to SQL.

Of course this all assumes MSSQL, but it is applicable to most variants.

See you here at 6:30 pm in beautiful downtown Hasbrouck Heights, NJ

I believe a good time was had by all.

Clarion 7 will survive. Next month we will go back to 6.3 unless something phenominal occurs with the application generator.

October Meeting

October 22nd, 2008   Filed Under Meetings

All in all a very good meeting.

We did some head to head testing of various techniques of processing large amounts of data using TPS files.

Starting with the normal Process template and ending with a streamed, tight loop we found that the majority of the time spent in processing is taken up by maintaining the process progress window and related data.

We also got into some nifty window form manipulation tricks using a drop-down text box.

Thanks to everyone.
